Hi friends & new subscribers,
How are you?
I am sending this a day late because I worked four 12-hour shifts in a row. I had the email ready but have forgotten to schedule it in advance. I apologize.
I’m finally out of my mindset rut since last week. I eased myself back into my keystone habits of yoga, journaling and meditating.
And I’m slowly incorporating weight-lifting into my home workouts. Be prepared for transformation pics ;)
It’s amazing how a few going back to your healthy habits can make a difference to get you aligned and become your truest self in real life and the online world.
I want to remind you that it doesn’t matter what path or decision you want to take if you're ever stuck.
It’s far more important to ask yourself, “will I have my own back despite the benefits/consequences of the decision I choose today, tomorrow or next month?”
If the answer is yes, then what you choose today doesn’t matter.
Making unconscious excuses
This week, I want to talk about making unconscious excuses. What I mean by this is your tendency to come up with excuses to avoid the thing you really need to do.
But without you knowing it.
Lately, I’ve felt physically and emotionally better, so I was ready to create many things. But throughout the week, I’ve been finding myself learning different things:
Creating weekly agenda on Notion
Attending a bunch of free online webinars
Reading random blog posts on crypto
And of course, these are all important, and I know that they will help me in the long run. But when I reflected on my week, I actually only published 2 pieces on Medium. I have 3 more pieces that I have to edit.
Have to. See my language there?
That’s when I realize that I’m avoiding things I really need to do to move forward, writing and creating.
It’s not that I don’t want to because I have many ideas and thoughts that I want to put out there.
But for some reason, my primitive brain perceives that as “too much work,” and I then start with self-sabotaging practices that you might also be familiar with:
Procrastinating
Doing everything else other than the thing I need to do
Making excuses that I’m learning vs. actually doing the thing
So, I wanted to point it out because that’s something I caught myself doing. So this week, I invite you to ask yourself
“Do I really really need to do this right now, or am I making an excuse?”
We tend to make excuses for the hard things in life.
But, those hard things are the things that are worth experiencing, and we need to do. Those are the things that will make your goals and dreams come true.
