On online and offline experimentation
Because that's all there is life, a series of experiments
Hi friends & subscribers!
I’m writing this in-between calls that online strangers have set up with me. (I opened an open calendar invite for the next two weeks).
The reasons I did this was because:
I wanted to know whether coaching was for me. I had this feeling of separation between my writing and coaching as if they were two different things. And just with these calls, I realize that they’re not. They go hand in hand.
To help me figure out my next steps online. I hate being stuck. Any time I’m stuck, I try my best to get out of it asap. I realize that I’m thinking about all of these in a “wrong” way. I realize that coaching doesn’t have to be my main thing, that it can just be a supplement to what I want to be doing, which is writing.
I still have 6 calls to go in the next week. So I thought that it would give me a sense of the direction I want to take online.
Whenever you’re stuck in life, it feels like you can’t pick among multiple options. That’s good, for the most part. But sometimes, you get stuck in analysis paralysis.
According to this website, studies in psychology and neuroscience reveal that analysis paralysis takes a far greater toll on your productivity and well-being than just lost time.
While it seems that it’s better to think and figure out which “best” option to take, you’re actually making it harder for yourself because of the mental toll and lost time if you had just taken the “wrong” step forward.
Having multiple options is good, but it’s unhelpful if you can’t move forward with it.
So, my question for you is this:
How can you treat your life experiences as a series of experiment?
Till next week,
Jerine
P.S. I’d love to know what you think of this newsletter. My inbox or DM is always open.
Takeback: I do need to move forward with at least one thing. I just can't be stuck in one place and do nothing and waste time throughout the day or week or month just thinking of the best option I've right now.
Thank you so much😄
