Hi friends,
Today is a special day.
I'm writing in a cute coffee shop close to my home on my 28th birthday. I spent the last hour reflecting on things I'm grateful for and what I want the next year to look like.
November always feels special because I get to do a trial run of my New Year's resolution.
But instead of tangible goals, I focus on the "feelings" associated with the things I want to experience. This is the "shortcut" to getting things you truly want.
But I digress.
Two years ago, I gave myself the best birthday gift ever. I resigned from my nursing job and leaped into the unknown. It's been a wild ride—from content creation to travel nursing.
And even though my life is full of unknowns because I don't know what I'm doing in the next three or six months, I still feel so grateful.
I still feel like my life is so beautiful, and I can't believe I get to experience it.
It wasn’t long ago I wrote an article about my experiences as a nurse and cried while doing so. (If you do read it, please excuse my writing. I feel like I have improved since then.)
Anyway, a couple of years later, we're here on what they call "the other side," and it's pretty f*cking great. I keep thinking, if I were to die tomorrow, I'd be happy. I feel like I've made myself proud of doing what I said I'd do (for the most part).
I feel that from here on, everything in my life will be a "cherry on top."
And all of this happened because I bet on myself two years ago.
I bet on myself by taking myself out of an environment I didn't love.
Since then, I learned that the world is full of opportunities, and it's up to you what's worth your energy and attention. When you bet on yourself, you learn you are the prize—that people, circumstances, and jobs would be lucky to have you.
Because when you bet on yourself, you do your best to become the best version of yourself.
You work on your physical, mental and spiritual health. And when you show up as your best version, the opportunities you embark on also get the best version of you.
Hence, you get the results that you want.
So, if you're ever in a situation where you have to pick, always bet on yourself.
As always thank you for reading my newsletter.
I appreciate you,
J ❤️
