Hi friends!
I’m so happy that a couple of new people have subscribed to my weekly newsletter. If you’re new here, it’s where I share my current thoughts and feelings while still providing value. (Mostly an emotional comfort with practical tips).
I’ve noticed that a lot of newsletters going around is very value-driven. They’ll post 1000 links to different things that they’ve found during the week. Who has time to go through all of the content that they’ve found? Besides all things we personally find ourselves. I know I don’t.
I realized that I’m consuming a lot of content. I’m creating a lot as well (hello, atomic essays), but also, I’m becoming more confused in the online world. There’s too much noise that I don’t particularly care about.
To do that, here’s what I’ll be doing.
Go on a content diet. Just like your physical health, you need to pick and choose what you want to see online. I’ll be unfollowing people I don’t want to learn from or inspired by on Twitter & Instagram. I’ll be unsubscribing to many many newsletters on my email (while I watch Netflix so I can enjoy the process).
Connect with people that I really want to connect with. A couple of strangers directly DM’d me complimenting my writing, and I thought about how amazing that felt. As a new habit, I’ve started to contact other writers to compliment their writing as well. I feel like I’m making friends with people I want to be friends with.
My end goal is to learn how to write well and build an online community with like-minded people. And I feel that slowly, it’s happening.
Let me know what struggles you have when it comes to being on social media or in life or being a millennial. I’m all ears! Connect with me on Twitter or Instagram.
Lots of love,
Jerine
